Paper on environmental impacts of plastics

10.11.2021

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) recently published a paper on the environmental impact of plastics. Environmental scientist and Fraser Institute senior fellow Kenneth P. Green analyzed the life cycle of plastic and various alternative materials. His conclusion: Plastic is more sustainable than alternative materials when the entire life cycle of the products is taken into account.

Nevertheless, recycling systems need to be improved further. Discontinuing the use of plastic would be detrimental to both human and environmental well-being.

The highly interesting paper can be read in full here: “Plastics and Sustainability”. A press release can be found here: “PETnology”.
